We Heart NPR, Intern Style

After my first week as an NPR, Science Desk, Multimedia intern, I have familiarized myself with the wire services, discovered the wonders of Flickr’s creative commons licensing, still hate istock’s photography, shot video of people eating popsicles to induce brain freeze and macro video of fire, saw two tiny desk concerts and had a photo published of an Easy Bake Oven. Fun Right? I still can’t find my own way around the building, but everyone there is so friendly and helpfully it doesn’t ready matter. After the first week was over, the interns from all departments united and made our way out into DC to mingle and enjoy some happy hour. I figured I would do a little of my own “We heart NPR” intern style. Here’s what I shot.

2012 Holi Festival

This past weekend I was able to photograph and participate in one of the most unique visual experiences of my life. This event, known as “The Holi Festivals of Colors” is a traditional Hindu celebration of spring. The colors are said to represent energy, life, and the coming of spring. Nearly 80,000 people showed up to the Lotus Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah to partake in the festivities.
